Established in 1980, Valley Pastoral Counseling Center is a non-profit interfaith and interdenominational pastoral counseling center providing spiritually sensitive psychotherapy for the mental health needs of our community.

Client Assistance Fundraising Goal

We have been using our Client Assistance Funds this year to help clients who cannot afford therapy without them. We have already conducted more than 400 sessions using our CAF funds this year.

Here are some important statistics from NAMI Virginia:

  • More than one million adults in Virginia have a mental health condition.
  • Of the 382,000 adults in Virginia who did not receive needed mental health care, 47.1% did not because of cost.
  • Virginians are over 7x more likely to be forced out-of-network for mental health care than for primary health care — making it more difficult to find care and less affordable due to higher out-of-pocket cost.

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation in the amount of your choosing to VPCC.

You can:

  • Mail a check made out to Valley Pastoral Counseling Center.
  • Call the office to make a credit card donation to our CAF account. Speak with our Office Manager, Holly Via. 540-943-8722

Mission

To enhance the quality of life in the community by being a leader in providing quality, cost-effective mental and spiritual healthcare through counseling, training, consultation, and prevention.

Our Philosophy

We are dedicated to providing counseling services to individuals of all ages, couples, families, and groups with a full range of emotional and spiritual concerns. It is our goal to respond to inquiries for services within 24 hours of your initial contact. We coordinate our care with local physicians, psychiatrists, and hospitals when medication and/or hospitalization are appropriate for treatment in an effort to facilitate the best possible outcome. We also provide consultation and educational services to congregations and other organizations.

At VPCC we honor your religious orientation. Pastoral Counselors are trained to provide services to clients who have varied spiritual orientations and religious views. We also invite those individuals who identify with the segment of the population who are spiritual but not religious. Beyond the religious community, we provide mental health services to the community at large. All will be warmly welcomed at VPCC.

We, at VPCC, are using a combination of teletherapy with HIPAA compliant technology that is easy to operate and requires no apps or downloads as well as in-office visits.

New Clients: You may leave a voicemail for Stephanie Sterling, our Clinical Coordinator, if you wish to make an initial appointment as we are currently accepting new clients.

Fees: We participate with most major insurance plans including Medicaid (with the exception of Virginia Premier). We also each provide services at a “fee-for-service rate” but that rate varies among each individual provider. For those who do not have insurance, deductibles are extremely high, or have Medicare, we are able to use funds that have been generously provided by the community to help supplement the cost of your mental health care. Please inquire.
